In 1995 I switched from the Nikon camera system to the Canon camera system - a complicated rationale, my primary reasons for this transition were two-fold: the exceptional quality of the Canon system of optics, and the ergonomics of their primary professional model at the time, the EOS 1N. My system included the following additional equipment: EOS Elan IIe, EF 300mm f/4.0 IS, EF 100mm f/2.8 macro-lens, EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 zoom, EF 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6 zoom, EF 75-300mm IS zoom, and the Speedlite 540EZ.
In early 2003 I made the move from film to digital, though staying with the Canon system EOS model 10D. All my old lenses fit this new model so it was a smooth transition.
I currently use a Tamrac backpack camera case which accomodates 2 camera bodies, 4 lenses, and my Pentax Digital Spot Meter. I also have a smaller LowePro Nova 3 for short day trips when I work only with one camera body, one lens and a flash unit.
My overall bag of tricks now encompasses the following equipment:
- Canon EOS 7D body (Digital SLR)
- Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 macro-lens
- Canon EF 17-85mm f/4-5.6 Image Stabilizer zoom
- Canon EF 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6 zoom
- Canon EF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 zoom
- Canon EF 300mm f/4.0-5.6 Image Stabilizer
- Canon EF 2.0 Extender
- Canon EF 1.4 Extender
- Canon EF 25 Extension Tube
- Pentax Digital Spot Meter
- Canon Speedlites 580 EZ and 550EX
- Canon Transistor Battery Pack E w/Nicad Pack E
- Stroboflash VH2000 Flash Bracket
- Remote Switch RS-80N3 (EOS 30D & 10D)
- Angle Finder B w/ Adapter S
- Bogan Model 3221 tripod; 3055 QR ball-head
- Bogan Model 3001N tripod; 3262 QR ball-head
